IDentity II
Illustration/ Photography
IDentity II is a visual project exploring the intersection of portrait photography and digital illustration. Each participant was invited to choose a location that felt most familiar to their daily life—a personal, often overlooked backdrop that quietly defines them. These scenes became the foundation for a series of photographs, later reimagined through digital painting in Clip Studio Paint to reveal a second identity—an inner self that coexists with the everyday.
Creative Concept
This project was inspired by my reading and viewing of materials on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Beyond the compelling plot and character design, it was the concept of the “potion” that lingered with me—an element that felt eerily relevant to how people today navigate dual identities between the physical and digital worlds.
Some take on alternate personas online to create, connect, and express themselves more freely. Others, protected by anonymity, channel their frustrations into hostility, conflict, or even harm. As digital platforms become more ingrained in our lives, this split between who we are and who we appear to be becomes increasingly apparent.
These dual identities are not simply opposites—they exist in a constant interplay, much like light and shadow. Coexisting. Conflicting. And often, inseparable.
