Ando Tadao’s architecture evokes a sense of calm and serenity.
After entering the art museum and seeing the relaxing space on the first floor and the famous artworks upstairs, I realized that this is a space where, as long as one enters with a sincere heart, it naturally makes you want to sit down, quiet your mind, and read a book.
This inspired the concept behind the product “Book Incense,” which serves as a companion for immersing oneself in reading—symbolizing the spiritual experience of reading.
Xiang Zhu
Inspired by the serene and contemplative architecture of Tadao Ando’s art museum, this incense holder set was designed to echo the tranquil experience found at Asia University Museum of Modern Art. Upon entering the museum, the minimalistic spatial arrangement invites visitors to slow down and reflect. Drawing from this atmosphere, the design fuses traditional Eastern incense culture with modern geometric simplicity. The act of lighting and placing the incense becomes a ritual of calm, allowing one’s thoughts to settle in the gentle swirl of fragrance.
Handmade Concrete Pot
Inspired by the geometric clarity and meditative calm of Tadao Ando’s architecture, this DIY concrete planter kit draws directly from the aesthetic language of the iconic Tadao Ando Museum at Asia University. The design features an origami-style mold that unfolds flat, allowing users to pour and shape their own concrete vessels. Once set, the form transforms into a minimalist planter—ideal for succulents or small plants. This kit is more than just a craft; it’s a quiet process of creation, inviting users to engage with structure, material, and the spirit of thoughtful design.
